Which tools are too many?
Many of us have a lot of tools in our toolbox that can get very busy very quickly. It's important to be prepared, but you don't want to slow down your productivity by having a lot of unnecessary items in your toolbox or workspace.

Your workspace should be productive, and if you're not productive, you can't get work done. The following article describes the must-have tools we recommend for your toolbox: 20 must-have tools for your toolbox

1. Organize by color code
The colors of the instruments you use may indicate how you organize these items. However, many instruments have the same color, gray. You can use several different solutions to organize. Here are some solutions we recommend and think are the best ways to deal with clutter:

1. Use Color Sorting Tape
This could be an excellent solution to your problem, especially if you have tape that is durable enough to withstand your daily hard work.

Use professional colored markers
This is also a really nice way to sort toolbox items. If you've ever wondered how the colored markers stick to the tool, worry no more! We've found some great colored markers that stick directly to metal, wood, and even rubber!

2. buy colored tools
This approach can quickly become expensive. If you already have a large number of tools that need to be sorted, we recommend the other two methods. But if you want to buy new tools anyway, this method is very necessary!

3. Sort by size
If you've ever purchased a set of wrenches or screwdrivers in the past, you know how many sizes the set comes in. This can be a handy way to tidy up the mess.

We recommend taking the same type of tool and putting it together with a smaller version of that type. For example, take a screwdriver set and keep those screwdrivers on the right side of your toolbox at all times. Then, grab a row of wrenches and place them all on the left side of the toolbox.

We care more about tool type and size than just size. It's a little too difficult for us here at Max Power HQ to throw all our 1" tools into one bag, which is why we prefer to do that.

4. Have multiple toolboxes
No matter what you do, your toolbox can be a mess! That's why this advice is crucial for all those with too many tools. When we say "buy another toolbox" it sounds like we're surrendering to tooling issues, but in reality that might be the best case for you.

5. Organize only what you need
This step requires a question: "Would you like to be prepared or organized?" Sometimes we take weird tools at work and keep them in our toolbox, but this can also bring More confusion.

In 20 Essential Tools to Have in Your Toolbox, we share the basic items you'll need. Consider this as you move forward with your project. Make sure you bring what you need!

For example, if you are DIYing a chair for your home, we recommend that you bring:

super glue
hammer
screw
screwdriver
nail

This will help you achieve your goals, but there may also be hidden issues that you won't know until you're working with the chair. Be careful not to waste space, and which tools are needed for which project!

When we travel to and from a project, sometimes we don't need to carry the entire toolbox, which is why a lightweight rubber tool sorter is recommended. This is great for when you just need a few tools and some gripping power to keep those tools in place.

5. Use it or lose it
This solution is very convenient and we highly recommend it. Many times, we humans get attached to those things that we value. What we value may be outdated. Sometimes we have things in our toolbox that shouldn't be there. Do you really need five screwdrivers of the same type and size?

Our simple solution: If you haven't used a tool in a year and a half, throw it away. At Max Power, we love to give away unused tools to local second hand stores. It's a feeling to benefit someone else with something you no longer use.

You don't have to throw these tools away, sometimes all you need to do is take them out of the toolbox and into your shop or home. This solution is designed to make room for your essentials.

6. Labels
In addition to size and color categorization, you can add labels to specific tool boxes or bags for further description. All projects require different tools, and when we open the toolbox to check the tools, it takes time. These hours can be spent on actual project work.

One way to avoid this is to have labels, think about it, if your toolbox has labels showing what's inside, then you won't have to waste time rummaging through boxes for tools.

You can also combine the labeling method with the color marking method to form a very complex classification system. Colors allow your brain to remember them for longer and have a huge impact in the long run. Your labeling should be clear and to the point.
