  The main role of the twist drill is to complete the following three key steps in the rotary cutting process through its unique helical groove design:

1.Cutting: The tip of the drill bit (chisel edge and main cutting edge) extrudes and cuts the material.

2.Chip removal: The rotating spiral groove (chip removal groove) acts like a conveyor to continuously discharge chips generated during the cutting process from the hole, which is the key to preventing the drill bit from getting stuck and overheating.

3.Chip containment and cooling: The helical groove provides a space for debris and also provides a channel for cutting fluid to flow into the drilling area, cooling and lubricating the drill bit.

Twist drills have extremely wide uses, covering almost all areas where drilling is required:

--Mechanical manufacturing: machining bolt holes, pin holes, craft holes, etc. on parts.

Precautions for use

1.Select the right drill bit: Select the corresponding material and type of drill bit based on the processing material (for example, do not use ordinary HSS drill bits to drill stainless steel for a long time).

2.Keep it sharp: Blunt drill bits create high temperatures, increase wear, and drill inaccurate holes. Drill bits should be sharpened or replaced in time.

3.Pay attention to cooling: When machining metal, appropriate use of cutting fluid or lubricating oil can significantly reduce the temperature, extend the life of the drill bit, and improve the quality of the hole wall.

4.Stabilize speed and feed: Too fast speed or too high feed pressure can easily lead to overheating, wear and even fracture of the drill.
