The wrench is a common tool in life. It is not difficult to see its shadow in repairs, from large machines and vehicles to small household appliances. The wrench is a hand tool that uses the principle of leverage to turn bolts, screws, nuts and other hole-piercing hardware. Most wrenches are made of structural steel made of carbon or alloy materials. There are openings or holes for screwing bolts and nuts at one or both ends of the handle. When using, you can tighten or loosen the bolts and nuts by applying force on the handle in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction according to the situation. There are many types of wrenches. Today I will introduce several commonly used wrenches to you.
1. Fixed wrench
The fixed wrench is also called a dead wrench. It is divided into a double-headed fixed wrench and a single-headed fixed wrench. It refers to an opening with a fixed size at one or both ends of the handle. Generally, the fixed wrench is forged as a whole from high-quality medium-carbon steel or high-quality alloy steel. It is easy to operate, has a stable structure, and has strong impact resistance. It is suitable for use in small spaces and when the force is not great.
2. Plum wrench
Plum wrench refers to a wrench with wrench-shaped ends and different radii of wrench. If you hold the handle horizontally, you will find that the wrench at both ends is staggered one up and one down. The wrench radius of the plum wrench is divided into different sizes. When using it, you should choose the one that matches the size of the bolt and nut. It is best to operate it with both hands at the same time to ensure that the plum wrench and the bolt are fully matched to prevent slipping.
3. Combination wrench
Combination wrench is a combination of the needs of fixed wrench and plum wrench. One end of the handle is wrench-shaped and the other end is a fixed size of fixed wrench. For users who operate simpler mechanical equipment, it can be said to kill two birds with one stone. Bolts can be installed and removed on both sides.
4. Adjustable wrench
An adjustable wrench means that the opening width can be adjusted within a certain range. Four fingers hold the handle tightly, and the thumb adjusts the opening size of the wrench by sliding the roller. It is a more flexible tool for tightening and loosening fasteners, which can adapt to bolts and nuts of different specifications. When turning a large nut, a large torque and space are often required. The hand needs to be held at the end of the handle to exert force, but the handle cannot be extended with steel products to increase the torque.
5. Hook wrench
Hook wrench, also known as crescent wrench, commonly known as hook plate, is used to turn flat nuts with limited thickness, and is specially used for disassembling and assembling round nuts on vehicles and machinery. The head is adjustable, suitable for the simultaneous use of multiple round nuts, and has a wide range of applications.
6. Socket wrench
Socket wrench refers to a wrench with a hexagonal hole or a twelve-pointed hole on the handle. Common ones are two-headed, three-headed, and the same handle is equipped with multiple movable sockets. It is suitable for turning bolts and nuts with very narrow space or deep depressions that cannot be directly used with a fixed wrench or a plum wrench. The main advantage is that the lever arm can be flexibly selected according to needs with a movable socket.
7. Hexagon wrench
The hexagon wrench is an L-shaped hexagonal wrench specially used to turn hexagon socket screws. It can also be used in a small space. It has large torque, good toughness, and is durable. Various specifications are suitable for various working conditions. It is often used to repair motorcycles, electric vehicles, machinery, digital products and furniture.
8. Torque wrench
Compared with the above wrenches, the torque wrench is more user-friendly. It can automatically adjust the torque applied when tightening bolts and nuts. When the torque reaches the set value, it will make a sound to remind the operator that it has been tightened and no more force is needed, avoiding damage to the thread due to excessive operating force.
9. Percussion wrench
The percussion wrench is a large tool, mainly used in oil extraction, petrochemical, ore and other industries. The handheld end is the percussion end, and the front end is the working end. It has a wide range of applications and is durable.
10. Multifunctional quick wrench
The multifunctional quick wrench is also divided into single-head and double-head, with different head widths and sizes, and many specifications and models can meet various needs. The wrench fastening part is designed with tight teeth, so it can be easily turned without slipping, no matter it is round, square or polygonal.
