What are electrical tools

Power tools are tools used for working on electrical systems. These tools include various tools such as wire and cable cutters, wire strippers, coaxial compression tools, phone tools, wire cutters/strippers, tie tools, accessories and more. You need the right tools for many types of crimp connectors. We all know that the right tools can make all the difference when it comes to completing a project. They distinguished between "done" and "correctly done." The bottom line is, the better the tools, the better the results. We stock the best brand name power tools in the industry at the best prices. This way you can get to work and get the job done right. The first step in determining which power tool you need is determining what task needs to be accomplished. Not every job requires professional tools, but using the right tool for the job will make a big difference. Take a look below to see the basic types of power tools we carry and learn more about the tools every electrician should own.

"Not every job requires a specialized tool, but having the right tool for the job will make a big difference."

Where are these products implemented?

Power tools are used in nearly every electrical application. They are used to perform a range of functions that you cannot otherwise achieve. Assuming you need to crimp various types of electrical connectors, these tools are the perfect place to start. Power tools are available in many forms and are ideal for new installations as well as replacement or maintenance parts. Suppose you have a chipped power tool or a broken wire stripper, these are the perfect replacement tools. All you need are the appropriate terminals, electrical components, and wires. Now that we've covered where power tools are implemented, let's consider how to know which power tools you need.

How do I know what power tools I need?
In order to understand the tools you need for your project, you first need to define the task you want to accomplish. All of our power tools can be placed into one of four categories based on the tasks they handle. These categories can be further broken down into sub-categories, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. These are tools that every electrician should have. Cutting/Striping Tools are designed to handle wires and cables effectively and efficiently. Some are designed simply to cut wires or cables cleanly without damaging the conductors. Others are designed to remove the outer insulation so you can access the inner conductors. Others still go for both. We even offer Klein power tools designed for specific uses. We'll take a closer look at all of this later. Crimping tools are designed to provide the best possible crimp results. Use the appropriate tools when using crimp connectors or other types of wire connectors. They are usually made based on a specific terminal or set of terminals. Each type of connector requires precise pressure to achieve a perfect crimp. Too much can damage terminals and conductors. Too few and the connection is too weak. That's why it's important to choose the right crimper for the job. Specialty tools are designed for highly specific tasks and include clamp meters, multimeters, circuit testers, fishing wire, and other highly specific items. Basically, if it's not an easily defined tool and has a specific purpose, it's a specialized tool. Accessories are things that enhance the functionality or longevity of a tool or product. These things will add to existing tools, giving them more functionality and thus becoming more useful. Accessories are a common mistake people make of neglecting them. Don't make this mistake. If you can improve the quality of a power tool or its output, you should do so.

What type of cutter or stripper do I want to use? To determine the correct type of cutter or stripper you want to use, first look at the specifications of the wire or cable you are using. Thicker wires and cables require different power tools than smaller gauge wires and cables. If you want to cut wires or cables, use a cutter. If you want to strip them off, use a wire stripper. If you need to do both at the same time, use a cutter/stripper. Seems simple, right? There's more to come.

wire and cable cutters

The first thing to decide is the size of wire or cable you are using. Many power tools are designed to use No. 22 (22AWG) to No. 8 (8AWG) wire, while other tools are designed to use No. 1 (1/0AWG) to No. 4 (4/0) cable. Some of the Klein power tools we carry are designed to work with copper-to-telephone wire, however, the tool may not offer the same benefits as some other tools. Once you determine your wire size, you need to decide whether you want to use manual cutting force or a ratcheting action. Obviously, the ratcheting action eliminates the effort and stress required to cut the cable, however, the trade-off is that ratcheting tools tend to cost a little more than hand tools.

Wire and cable strippers

Same as above, the first step is to identify the meter you will be using, but there is one difference with this category. You also need to know the type of cable you want to strip. While the cutting is straightforward, stripping the wire may require certain power tools, depending on whether the cable is flat or round. Round cables can be easily stripped using a slit tool, reducing the time and effort required to strip the insulation. If you plan to strip coaxial cable, we offer unique tools designed to effectively strip coaxial cable without damaging any inner conductors. Make sure to choose a power tool that is suitable for the cable you are using.

Wire cutters/wire strippers

This type of tool is designed to work with smaller gauge wires and often has additional uses. For example, all of our cutting/stripping tools are built in such a way that the tips can be used as needle nose pliers. The cutter/stripper works with twenty-four gauge (24AWG) to eight gauge (8AWG) wire and cable, depending on the style you choose. One of the advantages of these types of tools is that they are small enough to fit easily in your pocket, making them the perfect tool that every electrician should have. You can't say that about many tools. These cutters/strippers are designed to cut wire using a sharp, wear-resistant blade and then strip the same wire using appropriately sized teeth. This way you get a clean cut and strip without causing any unnecessary damage to the conductor.

When choosing a power tool, do I need a ratchet tool or a standard tool? Whether you want a ratcheting cable cutter or a standard cable cutter will most likely depend on the gauge of cable you plan to cut. For example, if you only want to cut 22-gauge marine wire into 6-gauge battery cable, then a standard cable cutter will be perfect for your needs. However, if you plan on cutting any cable larger than 1/0 at any time, then we highly recommend using a ratcheting cable cutter. The ratcheting action reduces the effort required and makes cutting the cable easier. How do I know which crimper to choose? Even seasoned veterans can be confused by choosing the right crimper. Basically, there are only three things you need to consider. Special tools are required for the size of the terminals and wires, the type of insulation they carry, and whether the terminals will be crimped. If you choose the wrong crimper, you'll end up crimping terminals onto the ends of wires incorrectly, which can inadvertently affect your entire electrical system. That's why we offer the best brands of power tools that every electrician should own. Whether you need wire connectors or other types of electrical connectors, we have you covered.
