1. Essence and specification definition of sleeve

The 1/2 pattern star E-sleeve is a special tool used to tighten or remove pattern bolts (Torx bolts). Each part of its name has the following meanings:

1/2: refers to the square driving size of the sleeve (i.e. the interface specification for connection with the wrench, 1/2"≈12.7mm), suitable for 1/2" driven pneumatic wrench, electric wrench or manual ratchet wrench;

Pattern star type E: means that the cross-sectional shape of the inner hole of the sleeve is a star spline (Type E is External Torx, External Pattern type), which accurately matches the head groove of the pattern bolt.

1. Automobile and machinery manufacturing

Disassembly and disassembly of anti-loosening bolts:

Tighten/remove pattern bolts (such as E-bolts commonly used in German vehicles such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW) in automobile engine cylinder heads, gearboxes, and chassis suspension systems. Their polygonal structure can provide a larger contact area to avoid slipping or slipping.

In key parts of mechanical equipment that need to be prevented from loosening (such as compressor flanges and hydraulic pump fixing bolts), the pattern design is more resistant to vibration and prevents loosening than ordinary hexagonal bolts.

The shells or internal motherboards of some electronic equipment (such as notebook computers, cameras, precision instruments) use micro pattern screws (such as E2-E6 specifications), and the 1/2-driven E-sleeve can be matched with an adapter rod for batch disassembly and assembly.

The pattern bolt requires a special sleeve to be disassembled, which prevents non-professionals from arbitrarily disassembling equipment (such as tamper-proof designs for medical equipment and avionic components).

High-strength pattern bolts (such as titanium alloy) in key parts such as aircraft landing gears and wing frames require E-type sleeves to be combined with torque tools to ensure that the connection strength meets aviation standards (such as NASA specifications).

The stress distribution of the pattern structure is more uniform, which can reduce the risk of fatigue fracture of the bolt under alternating load, and is suitable for the vibration environment of aerospace equipment.

Heavy machinery maintenance:

Remove hydraulic pipeline joints and track shoe fixing bolts (some models adopt E-spline design) of construction machinery (such as excavators and cranes) to improve maintenance efficiency.

Anti-loose connection of steel structure:

In industrial equipment foundations with high vibration (such as fans and crushers), use pattern bolts and E-sleeves to tighten them to reduce equipment failures caused by loosening.

 

 

3. Precautions for use

Specifications matching:

Ensure that the sleeve model completely matches the bolt pattern (e.g. E10 sleeve can only be used for E10 bolts) to avoid wear on the bolt head or cracking of the sleeve due to inconsistent specifications;

 

Torque control:

In precision scenarios such as automobile maintenance, it needs to be used with a torque wrench, and the torque is set according to manufacturer standards (for example, automobile wheel hub E14 bolts usually require 80-120N·m);

 

Tool maintenance:

Clean the metal debris in the inner hole of the sleeve after use to avoid rust or stuck; if the spline teeth are found to be worn (such as dull corners), replace them in time to prevent slipping and damaging the bolt.
